Oct09 Is Resurrection Dead?

Anybody seen any recent ones? And I am not referring to doctors reviving patients, that doesn’t count. I mean a genuine coming back to life. Why is it that in the advent of technology and such shaman aren’t stepping up to prove themselves under the magnifying glass? If it used to work, why wouldn’t it continue to do so? One thing has always bothered me in regard to Jesus. People always say “He died for my sins”. Well not really. I mean if he truly was dying and giving up his life to atone us it would be a pretty good gesture. Considering he came back to life, he isn’t really “dead”. Does it mean as much now? Also, what happened to the people Jesus brought back to life? Did they die a natural death, or what? Maybe they are like the Wandering Jew and were made immortal. The thing is, there have been no recent resurrections. Maybe that is because it isn’t possible. If Jesus really did exist, and was crucified, he simply died. Please somebody prove me otherwise, as all the religions seem to have an obsession with coming back to life. Maybe that is because of religion’s inherent flaw. I believe Sigmund Freud did a great job explaining it:

Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires.

Religion is just an attempt to fufill our want to live forever. Personally I think science is a more viable option. Something with the fact we live longer today then in the days of the church we so happily refer to as the Dark Ages.

People have spontaneously regained circulation after being declared dead. This phenomena is referred to as the Lazarus syndrome

Mike you don't understand NOT surprised either . That is sacrifice that was typified in Genesis 22 with Abraham and Isaac. The Lord Jesus Christ really died for all our sins and rose again. Anyone reading Genesis 22 claiming to have a "religious experience" and kills their believing God will bring that child back is listening to Satan and not God . Abraham typed God The Father and Isaac typified The Jesus Christ His Son . Oh yes and Satan is VERY religious how do you think you may wind up in Hell for being "good"?

I hope you understand now Mike ,possibly.God bless.

There you go quoting the Bible, I thought you said man makes religions to keep us from God? Why do you quote scripture then?
  • Joseph Dunnam
No man gets religious or antireligous (Atheists) to tell God and men that .He is good enough for Heaven . God said in The Bible "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". Which means THE BEST a religious or antireligious person can do (including stopping a nuclear holocost) will land that person in Hell , if he doesn't do what Jesus said in Mark 1:15 , "repent ye and believe the gospel". You have mistaken Christianity to be a "religion" your not the first and won't be the last.

How great it is to find a blog of people who are honestly looking for answers. You people see only what is material; Christian ideas are out of this world (and help us to live better in this world). Plato in his 'Allegory of the Cave' started it. Abbott, writer of 'Flatland', described contiguous dimensional worlds. 'Techie Worlds', available at Amazon.com, analyzes in a mechanistic sort of way. It looks at Christian concepts like Trinity, resurrection, judgment, soul, Satan and hell. Viewed dimensionally, those ideas make logical sense. That follows the pattern of science: examine phenomena in the light of a theory. When phenomena become more understandable, accept the theory.
Throughout history mankind has experienced strange ideas and events: Wicca, Greek gods, Hindu pantheism, upturned corners on oriental temples, the sun dancing at Fatima. Materialists just deny them all. 'Techie Worlds', with its geometric understanding of worlds contiguous with ours, explains the structure of our real worlds. It is not accepted by bible thumpers and professional religious. They have faith. Instead it serves thinkers who able to integrate sensible ideas.

    Great blog and good post!

This is something that I've been saying for a long time! Where was the sacrifice if both God and Jesus knew that he wasn't going to stay dead?? That's no sacrifice at all. It was a sham! Sure He had to endure one day of torture and pain but He knew there would be an end in sight. There are people enduring far worse for much longer without knowing if it will ever end.
  • It wasn't even three whole days. Late Friday to early Sunday. Pfft.

Also, if Jesus died for our sins why are we still damned to hell?
  • Joseph Dunnam
Your still damned to Hell bcause of your own free will. If you don't choose Jesus Christ to be the Savior and The Lord of your life .You choose your own way . Therefore you condemn yourself to Hell. Eternal Salvation is a Free Gift from God. Man makes religions to block himself from God , oh yes and antireligions like Atheism. So he can blaspheme by saying to God , "I'M GOOD ENOUGH. I can pay for all my sins ". God lets me do so in Hell FOREVER ,not God's fault.

Why doesn't God simply make a better human being? He is all powerful... right? Or just give us all a heads up, yea I am up here and I'm watching. Wouldn't that be easy and a pretty quick fix, instead of sending us who He "loves" so much to burn in Hell for all of eternity?
  • Joseph Dunnam
You don't understand ,God doesn't man a quck fix , He tests you and me daily , me (a believer ) , you (non-believer). God does love you , the thing is will you "repent and believe the gospel" to show Him love or will go on your way as you have so far?
