I thought I would share some of my favorite places for atheists. I’m sure there are a few I have not heard of or used so feel free to recommend others in the comments.
1.Reddit
For those of you unfamiliar with Reddit, it is a community where you submit links and these links are voted on. The most popular ones end up on the front page. There are individual groups within the site called subreddits. The atheism subreddit is great. There are about 60,000 people, so it is a very large community. I check this on a daily basis to find news and interesting stories about atheism. I highly recommend joining and taking a look for yourself.
This site was one of the first online atheist sites I joined. They even sent me a free wristband that says “learn to think atheist”. The people are what make the site. You can also run a mini blog on there if you are inclined to. There are frequent radio shows, skype conferences and various events which take place. The man behind it, Morgan Matthew, is easily available and has done a good job with the site. Check them out sometime!
This site is probably one of the best known. The way it is coded is very similar to ThinkAtheist. One difference is AtheistNexus is larger. Also, to join you must be an atheist or agnostic. I imagine most over at ThinkAtheist are atheists, but it is not a requirement. A pretty good community for meeting new people and talking about atheism. You can also run a blog from here too.
4.Twitter
Twitter actually has a large number of atheists. On Twitter, you can use a thing called hashtags. Then you can search for these topics. So if you write about atheism, you place #atheism in your tweet. Then the community can view it. I have met tons of new people through twitter and had great conversations. Also a great way to find links to new blog posts or news stories.
These are my favorites. Are there any sites you frequently visit? Share them in the comments, I am always looking for new places to go.
